Cookies and local storage

Short version: JoyProbe stores nothing on your device unless you press a button in the notice at the bottom of the screen, and even then it stores a single word.

None. The site is a set of static files with no session handling, no login and no server-side state, so there is nothing for a cookie of ours to remember.

Cloudflare

The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which works as a content delivery network and as a protective layer in front of the hosting. Cloudflare may add its own performance beacon to the page. That beacon measures how quickly the page rendered and reports the figure back; it stores no cookie and writes nothing to your device. Cloudflare also processes the ordinary request data described in the privacy notice.

The one thing that is stored

When you press Accept or Decline in the notice, the browser writes a single entry to local storage under the key jp_pref_cookies, with the value accept or decline. Its only job is to keep the notice from appearing on every page. Nothing is switched on by Accept and nothing is switched off by Decline, because there is no analytics, advertising or tracking behind either button. The value never leaves your browser and is never sent to us.

Changing or clearing your choice

Clear the site data for joyprobe.com in your browser and the entry disappears along with it; the notice will show again on your next visit.

• Chrome: Settings, then Privacy and security, then Third-party cookies or Site settings, then View permissions and data stored across sites.
• Safari: Settings, then Privacy, then Manage Website Data.
• Firefox: Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Cookies and Site Data, then Manage Data.

Legal footing

The European Communities (Electronic Communications Networks and Services) (Privacy and Electronic Communications) Regulations 2011 (S.I. 336/2011) require consent before information is stored on your device, except where the storage is strictly necessary for a service you asked for. The single entry above is written only after you press a button, so it rests on your own action; nothing else is written at all.
